Fragments of Identity /

The project began with a fashion photoshoot created for a fashion designer, whose visual language was inspired by George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. The fragmented, layered aesthetic of the series became a starting point for exploring the contradiction between external appearance and inner identity. From this initial context, the project gradually moved beyond fashion and narrative references, turning toward a more personal and universal question: how is identity formed, fragmented, and reconstructed?

Identity is not a fixed image, but a construction assembled from memories, roles, perceptions, and contradictions. We constantly piece ourselves together—some fragments are authentic, others imposed, and some already lost. In Fragments of Identity, the image is physically broken apart and reconstructed into an unstable whole. Blurring, layering, burned or concealed parts suggest that identity is never complete or singular. What remains is not a fully formed “self, ” but a shifting image composed of what we choose to reveal, what we conceal, and what has been destroyed along the way.

The title work of the project received an Honorable Mention as a finalist in the prestigious IPA Photography Awards 2026 and has been selected as an Editors’ Pick in the LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards 2026.

Fragments of Identity /

LensCulture Black & White Photography Awards 2026.
